AUSTIN, TEXAS — Better-for-you frozen treat manufacturer GoodPop doesn’t only offer alternative dairy products anymore. The company’s portfolio of pops now includes organic dairy, as well.
GoodPop’s introductory ice cream bars arrived in two flavors, Strawberry Shortcake and Cookies n' Cream.
While the company will continue making its dairy-free frozen pops, GoodPop shared that it hadn’t made dairy products in many years. The Austin, Texas-based company launched in 2009, selling products at farmers markets, where it said customers often bought dairy-based flavors Coldbrew Coffee, Banana Cinnamon and Chocolate Milk.
Back then, founder and chief executive officer Daniel Goetz had to discontinue the ice cream pops, because he couldn’t find a dairy supplier that met the company’s standards and high demand, GoodPop said.
Goetz noted that improvements of late in the supply of high quality dairy allowed the company to bring organic dairy back to its better-for-you portfolio, which is built around real ingredients with less sugar and no artificial components.
"We already know that the majority of our customers enjoy both dairy and non-dairy treats, and for this reason have always wanted to provide them with both options,” Goetz said. “In partnership with a group of small, family-run dairy farms, we're proud to offer our new ice cream bars made with organic, grass-fed dairy as a cleaned-up version of a favorite childhood treat."
GoodPop’s new gluten-free ice cream bars are made with fair trade cocoa and organic berries, and debuted throughout the country at Whole Foods Market locations.
