CHICAGO — Authentic Mexican dairy and chorizo producer V&V Supremo Foods, Inc. celebrated its 60th anniversary this year.
From humble beginnings in 1964 with just $500, Gilberto Villaseñor, Sr. and Ignacio Villaseñor crafted authentic Mexican cheeses and other products, bringing “a taste of home to Chicago,” the company said.
The founders’ dedication to quality and tradition transformed a small venture into a family-owned business that now serves the entire United States.
Sixty years later, the tradition of quality and family values continues, “bringing great memories through great food,” with the legacy being carried on today by Gilberto Villaseñor II and Philip Villaseñor, sons of the original founders.
"Reaching this 60-year milestone is not just a celebration of our past, but also a testament to the enduring values of our family and our commitment to producing the highest quality dairy products," said V&V Supremo chief vision officer Gilberto Villaseñor II. "We are honored to continue the legacy that our fathers started, maintaining the authenticity and craftsmanship that have been the foundation of our success."
Said chief integrator Philip Villaseñor: "We are incredibly proud to continue our family's legacy, not just as a business, but as a representation of the values and traditions we hold dear. Our commitment to quality and authenticity has remained steadfast for 60 years, and we look forward to bringing the true taste of Mexico to our customers for many more years to come."
The anniversary comes on the heels of V&V’s standout performance at the 2024 Illinois State Fair Dairy Products Contest, where the company received multiple blue ribbons, including two products that scored perfect 10s.
V&V’s Queso Blanco, which received a perfect score, was selected as one of the top five overall products at the competition.
The company’s list of winners included Chihuahua Brand Cheese (the variety produced at its Browntown, Wisconsin, facility earned a perfect 10), Chihuahua Brand Cheese with Jalapeño Peppers, Crema Supremo Mexican Style Sour Cream, Queso Fresco and Oaxaca.
