FAIRFIELD, NJ – Schuman Cheese’s flagship brand Cello added to its award collection at the 2024 American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging & Competition.

Cello’s highest honor came in one of the aged cheese categories, with its Extra Aged Copper Kettle taking first place, one of five awards for the Schuman brand.

Schuman said the Copper Kettle was a special edition, 36-month aged version of Cello’s Parmesan. The award-winning cheese, the company added, features a “rich, robust flavor and exquisite texture.”

The company shared that Cello’s cheesemakers utilize a “meticulous” aging process and are dedicated to quality. Cheesemakers at Schuman’s Lake County Dairy in Wisconsin crafted the products that received ACS awards. Schuman said the facility’s cheesemakers follow “traditional Old World practices to produce authentic cheeses of the highest caliber,” making hard Italian cheeses in copper vats.

Three other Italian cheeses from Cello – Fontal, Romano and Asiago – picked up second place awards. The brand’s Mascarpone also earned second place in a fresh unripened cheeses category.

"We are incredibly honored to receive these awards from the American Cheese Society," said Allison Schuman, chief revenue officer for Schuman Cheese. "Passion, dedication and generational expertise are at the forefront of everything we do at Schuman. The Cello brand embodies our constant pursuit of not only meeting, but exceeding the expectations of our customers, and we couldn't be prouder to see that work recognized."
