COLUMBUS, OHIO – Eyeing an upcoming astronomical event, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams created its latest limited-edition collection as a tribute to the cosmos.
Available at Jeni’s scoop shops, as well as via the ice cream maker’s website, the Punk Stargonaut Collection lifted off March 28, ahead of the anticipated April 8 total solar eclipse.
The company introduced three new limited-time flavors for the occasion: Nebula Berry, Cosmic Bloom and Purple Star Born. Plus, Jeni’s shared that it brought back a customer favorite, Supermoon, and created a special fizzy candy topping it’s calling Space Dust.
Jeni’s described the flavor of its Nebula Berry creation as “tart like a blueberry and vibrant like a raspberry, with a beautiful elderflower finish.” It said Cosmic Bloom is “citrusy like a mandarin, refreshing like a kiwi, and punchy like passion fruit.” The company’s first grape ice cream, Purple Star Born, was called “intensely juicy, with Concord grape and puckery blackcurrants.” And Jeni’s said Supermoon reappears with tastes of “candied violet and marshmallows — a combination reminiscent of marshmallow cereal milk.”
As another way to celebrate the total solar eclipse, Jeni’s said it is sending out four pairs of ISO-certified eclipse glasses with every Punk Stargonaut Collection online order made by April 3.
