SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. – When Whole Foods Market set out to offer holiday ice cream flavors for alternative dairy consumers this year, the grocery retailer asked McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams to help make it happen.
The artisanal ice cream maker, drawing inspiration from winter holiday treats, created two exclusive flavors for Whole Foods: Gingerbread House and Peppermint Mocha & Brownie Bites.
McConnell’s shared that its dairy-free products also are gluten-free, nut-free and egg-free. The company uses an oat milk base that it said creates a smooth, consistent texture. Plus, the inclusions within the formulations are gluten-free and made from scratch by the ice cream maker’s in-house bake room team.
The Gingerbread House flavor features gingerbread cookies mixed throughout, along with swirls of dark, Guittard chocolate. Peppermint Mocha & Brownie Bites, meanwhile, includes gluten-free brownies inside a “peppermint-spiked” mocha “cream,” and swirls of chocolate ganache.
“The McConnell’s and Whole Foods partnership goes back years and years,” said Michael Palmer, chief executive officer for McConnell’s. “We are two companies that are first and foremost dedicated to quality and our respective, extremely high standards. What a great opportunity to lean into what we both do best and kick off the holiday season with the launch of these delicious, brand new flavors, exclusively available at Whole Foods.”
