FAIRFIELD, NJ — Schuman Cheese’s flagship specialty brand, Cello, bagged six medals – including two golds for its Copper Kettle varieties – at the 2024 World Cheese Awards in Portugal.
Both the 16-months and three-years aged Copper Kettle cheeses earned gold at the international competition, which featured 4,786 cheeses from 1,032 companies in 47 countries.
The flagship Schuman Cheese brand also gathered a silver for Cello Mascarpone and bronze medals for Cello Creamy Dill Rubbed Fontal, Cello Smoky Pepper Rubbed Fontal and Cello Asiago.
Schuman Cheese noted that experts at its Lake Country Dairy facility in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, created the artisan cheeses through Old World practices combined with innovative techniques.
"We're honored to have our Cello cheeses recognized on the global stage by the World Cheese Awards," said Allison Schuman, chief revenue officer for the company. "These awards validate our dedication to creating exceptional cheeses that balance time-honored traditions with innovative flavor profiles."
She said the company aims to honor craftsmanship while pushing boundaries, and called the awards a testament to the Cello cheese makers’ “hard work, creativity and passion for creating extraordinary cheeses."
