GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS — Regional dairy council Dairy MAX introduced its next chief executive officer, Keira Lombardo.
On Dec. 2, she will replace Mike Konkle, who is retiring after serving as CEO since 2007.
Lombardo’s 20-plus years of agricultural experience include her recent role as chief administrative officer at Smithfield Foods, where she oversaw corporate communications, government affairs, sustainability and more.
Dairy Management, Inc. president and CEO Barb O'Brien said Lombardo possesses a track record of successful relationships, as well as experience “navigating complex issues and fostering growth” that aligns with the mission of Dairy MAX, which represents 900-plus dairy farmers.
"Her extensive experience in the food and agriculture industry, coupled with her leadership skills, make her the right fit for the Dairy MAX team,” O’Brien said.
Lombardo said she is honored to serve the nonprofit as CEO.
"I have a deep respect for the hard work and dedication of dairy farmers, and I am passionate about ensuring the continued success of this vital industry,” she said. “I look forward to working with the talented Dairy MAX team to champion dairy, advocate for our farmers and connect with consumers across the region."
Dairy MAX board chair Marky Kraft said the board members appreciated Konkle’s leadership through the years.
"Under Mike's guidance, Dairy MAX has flourished, expanding our reach and impact for dairy farmers across the region," Kraft said. "Keira brings a wealth of experience to Dairy MAX, with a passion for farmers, sustainability and agriculture."
The organization represents dairy farmers in Colorado, southwest Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, western Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
