BOSTON — Netherlands-based goat milk infant formula brand Kabrita further extended its distribution reach, with its product now being sold at Whole Foods Market and Sprouts locations throughout the United States.
Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula, which has been available in other markets for more than 75 years, didn’t arrive in the US until this past year.
Owned by Dutch dairy company Ausnutria, Kabrita shared that the goat milk used to produce its formula comes from a group of 100-plus Dutch goat farms. The company said Kabrita infant formula is consumed by 1.5 million babies around the world each day.
The American Academy of Pediatrics first added infant formula made from goat’s milk to its list of recommended products in 2023.
Kabrita noted that goat milk is easier to digest than cow’s milk, because goat milk proteins have more similarities with human milk. The manufacturer added that its process for making the formula includes clinical testing for nutrition and safety, among more than 90 quality checks.
Kabrita received three awards from the Clean Label Project, a nonprofit that commends brands that “place an emphasized focus on purity and surpass the minimum regulations” set forth by the US Food and Drug Administration.
"Our brick-and-mortar retail expansion is a testament to the overwhelmingly positive consumer response we've received since introducing Kabrita goat milk infant formula to the US market earlier this year," Kabrita North America general manager Jacqueline Lipiec said. "We know parents are seeking high-quality, European-made infant formula."
The product debuted in the US via online retailers.
