MONTREAL – The revamping of leadership roles at Canadian dairy manufacturer Saputo Inc., which began when Carl Colizza assumed the role of president and chief executive officer Aug. 9, continued a month later with four new C-suite appointments that the company said will support Colizza.

Saputo introduced chief operating officer Frank Guido, and chief commercial officer Leanne Cutts, as well as Saputo USA president and COO Dominick Bombino, and Saputo UK president and COO Steve Douglas.

The company’s board of directors appointed Colizza, formerly president and COO for its North American operations, as the successor to Lino A. Saputo, who transitioned to the role of executive chair of the board.

Colizza first joined the dairy processor in 1998, and Saputo Inc. said his dedication to its “core values and his proven track record make him the ideal candidate to lead the company into its next chapter of growth and innovation.”

The president and CEO said he is honored to lead the company with Lino A. Saputo’s support.

“For over 25 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Lino, whose commitment to Saputo’s culture, our people and the communities we serve is truly extraordinary,” Colizza said. “I am excited to continue advancing Saputo’s business and delivering on the incredible opportunities we see ahead.”

Guido’s responsibilities as new COO, the company said, will involve overseeing North America, Europe and international operations, and playing a crucial part in Saputo Inc.’s “continuous efforts to drive growth and operational results.”

Most recently Saputo USA’s president and COO, Guido’s consumer packaged goods industry experience spans 25 years at various companies, and includes senior management positions in operations, supply chain, continuous improvement and finance.

Saputo Inc. elevated Cutts to fill the newly created CCO position, which the company said involves “driving commercial strategy, sales development in global markets and channels, and overseeing marketing, brand management and market insights functions for all divisions.”

Cutts first joined the company in 2021, serving as president and COO for international and Europe operations. Saputo Inc. shared that Cutts possesses 30-plus years of experience in branding, marketing, product development and commercial activities.

The company also promoted Bombino, most recently senior vice president of sales for Saputo USA, to the role of president and COO for Saputo USA, replacing Guido. Bombino has worked for Saputo for more than 25 years, spending time in operational and commercial leadership positions in both the US and Canada.

Douglas, new president and COO for Saputo UK, originally joined the company 30-plus years ago. Previously senior vice president, operations and supply chain, for Saputo USA, he oversaw manufacturing, converting and optimization efforts in that role. The company said Douglas was “instrumental” in streamlining its supply chain and improving efficiencies.

The company also shared that Tom Atherton, who has been president and COO for Saputo UK since 2019, will leave Saputo at the end of 2024 “to pursue other opportunities,” explaining that Atherton will support Douglas during his transition in the months leading up to his departure.
