HEATH, OHIO — Women-led infant formula producer Bobbie opened a manufacturing facility in Heath, Ohio. The 90,000-square-foot facility will enable the company to produce powder dries and canned formula.
The company also said it is relocating its headquarters from San Francisco to Heath.
Bobbie was co-founded in 2018 by Laura Modi and her friend, Sarah Hardy. Modi saw the infant formulas in stores were filled with corn syrup, fillers and palm oils. The pair created the business to offer organic formula.
The organic infant formula maker, which creates its products with milk from pasture-raised cows, has seen growth within the past years. Bobbie recently acquired Nature’s One, an Ohio-based pediatric nutrition company, in July 2023, and raised $50 million in a Series B funding round in March 2022.
“For those of us who fed a baby during the formula shortage – and when out of stocks reached almost 70% this time two years ago – we will never forget the fear of not being able to find a can of formula to feed your baby on a shelf or online,” Modi said. “Our new manufacturing facility creates an unprecedented level of reliability for our parents moving forward. These step-level changes in a company’s growth are never easy, but nothing about entering this industry as the only female CEO has been easy. As a mom to my fourth baby, now four months old, I am personally excited for what this new facility will unlock for our customers and our company – a steady supply of Bobbie, manufacturing redundancy across our owned and co-manufacturing partners’ facilities, and faster in-house innovation for the next generation of infant formulas in the US.”
The company also named Jason Blaisure as its chief supply chain officer. Blaisure will oversee Bobbie’s manufacturing and quality experience.
Blaisure joins the company from Chobani, where he most recently was chief supply chain officer. He joined Chobani in 2011 as plant superintendent. He held several operational roles while at Chobani.
