KINDERHOOK, NY – Grass-fed organic dairy maker Maple Hill Creamery broadened its network of farms, adding new farmers in Pennsylvania.
Maple Hill Creamery shared that it welcomed 14 small family farms in central Pennsylvania and the Lancaster County, Pa., area. The organic dairy company said farmers who “share Maple Hill Creamery's values of sustainability, animal welfare and environmental stewardship” will manage the farms. On average, the company said, each farm will have approximately 50 dairy cows.
"We are thrilled to expand our operations into Pennsylvania and welcome these new farmers into the Maple Hill Creamery family," said Tim Joseph, the company’s founder. "Our commitment to 100% grass-fed organic dairy is stronger than ever, and we are proud to support farmers who share our values and dedication to sustainable farming practices. We are especially honored to partner with the Stoltzfoos family and enlist their support as we continue to build out our best-in-class network of farms."
Maple Hill Creamery said Springwood Organic Farm, which is owned and operated by Dwight Stoltzfoos, was the first farm it added during its expansion into Pennsylvania. The company noted the farm became an early adopter of organic dairy practices in the mid-1990s before also becoming a full grass-fed operation in 2012.
The Pennsylvania dairy farms joining Maple Hill Creamery plan to start producing milk for the company by the third quarter of 2024, the company said. Maple Hill Creamery also sources milk from small family dairy farms in Upstate New York.
While announcing its expansion, the company shared it also is seeking additional Pennsylvania farmers who want to transition to 100% grass-fed organic farming, as Maple Hill Creamery looks to further fortify its supply chain.
Maple Hill Creamery produces a variety of dairy products, including milk, Greek yogurt, kefir and butter.
