KALAMAZOO, MICH. – FlavorSum announced an expansion project that will provide more technical resources and capacity at its facility in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The project will add 35,000 square feet to the facility, which the company aims to have operating at full capacity in August 2023.
Per FlavorSum, the upgrades at the facility will bolster its technical expertise as it continues working with small, mid-sized and emerging food and beverage companies. The new space will offer pilot plant and lab options, as well as support for initiatives involving MicroThermics equipment, improved shipping and receiving processes, and increased product storage.
“Response to our solutions model and the growth of SME food and beverage brands led us to expand our capabilities in Kalamazoo,” said Brian Briggs, president and chief executive officer at FlavorSum. “FlavorSum’s mission is to deliver the flexibility of a small supplier with the resources of a major flavor company. The additional space allows us to continue fulfilling our promise.”
Dave Franz, chief revenue officer for the company, added that creating custom flavors is only one aspect of FlavorSum’s approach.
“We partner with our customers to offer a full suite of services designed to facilitate in-market success, from regulatory expertise and market insights to applications and scale-up support,” Franz said. “A larger facility in Kalamazoo ensures we’re positioned to support our customers as they grow.”
