MONTREAL — Stella Cheese, a division of Montreal-based Saputo Inc., is reintroducing two classic varieties as the company nears its centenary.
PDO-certified Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano, imported from northern Italy, are the charter members of Stella’s new Import Collection.
Stella will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023.
Parmigiano Reggiano is aged an extra 10 months to allow for increased flavor development during the maturation process. The cheese is characterized by its rich flavor and compact, granular texture, according to Stella.
Grana Padano is aged an extra five months to give the cheese “medium seasoning.” Its mellow and nutty taste will complement other flavors well, working harmoniously in any dish.
