NEW YORK — Oatly North America, the North American business of Malmö, Sweden-based Oatly Group AB, is introducing non-dairy frozen dessert bars, marking the company’s foray into the $5.4 billion US frozen novelties category. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate fudge, salted caramel and strawberry swirl, each encased in a chocolatey coating.
The new items join a lineup of Oatly frozen dessert pints, which launched less than two years ago and has become the top oat-based ice cream, according to Nielsen data. The 3-oz stick bars feature the same recipe, consistency and taste, according to the company.
“Our new non-dairy frozen dessert bars are fantastic, and I can’t wait for people to try them,” said Mike Messersmith, president of Oatly North America. “We’re proving that oat milk is not just for coffee, cereal or cooking, but can also be the foundation for great-tasting treats to be enjoyed during celebration moments or when a pick-me-up reward is needed. We are so proud of this product and are very excited to bring it to many frozen aisles across the country soon.”
Oatly frozen dessert bars will be available at more than 3,000 retail outlets nationwide, including Target, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Giant, Fresh Direct and more, beginning in December.
