LAFAYETTE, NY. — Byrne Dairy, Inc., a fourth generation, family-owned producer and distributor of Greek yogurt, conventional yogurt, sour cream, milk, cream, ice cream and a variety of other dairy products, has announced plans to invest $25 million to upgrade its dairy processing facility in Cortlandville, NY.
Originally built in 2014, the plant will be retooled to produce extended-shelf-life and shelf-stable dairy products, Byrne said. In addition, new processing and filling equipment lines will be installed, and the building’s footprint will be expanded.
Expansion of the facility will begin in January 2022 and finish in October 2022.
“We’re excited by the growth in our extended shelf life and aseptic platforms,” said Carl Byrne, president and chief executive officer of Byrne Dairy. “This investment in our Cortlandville facility will have an instant positive impact on our ability to serve these markets.”
Byrne employs about 600 people in its Central New York dairy plants and warehouses. The Byrne Dairy and Deli convenience stores employ approximately 1,300 people throughout Central New York.
Byrne currently has three manufacturing facilities, including an ice cream plant located in Syracuse, NY, an Ultra High Temperature (UHT) pasteurization plant in DeWitt, NY, and a cultured plant located in Cortlandville.
