PLAINSBORO, NJ. — DSM-Firmenich introduced Smart Milk flavors and Dynarome Da innovations for use in plant-based milk alternative beverages.

The company said the innovations were formulated to replicate traditional milk by transforming dairy alternatives such as oat, pea and other plant proteins.

Per DSM-Firmenich, its Smart Milk range offers creamy, buttery and rich milky notes, while its Dynarome Da line was formulated to mask off-notes and offer the same taste of traditional milk.

"We've taken a deep dive into understanding what consumers truly crave and identified a significant gap in the market for authentic dairy-like experiences in plant-based beverages,” said Utkarsh Shah, vice president of sweet goods, North America, at DSM-Firmenich Taste, Texture & Health.

“Our new innovations bridge that gap, offering the indulgent, creamy flavors that people love without sacrificing nutrition or values,” Shah said. “These advancements represent a pivotal moment for plant-based options, allowing consumers to savor the taste they desire while embracing a healthier lifestyle."

DSM-Firmenich Taste, Texture & Health business development director for sweet goods, North America, JoAnn Fritsche said the company wanted to do more than just mimic dairy with its latest taste solutions. The goal was to “redefine what plant-based beverages can be,” she said.

"Our mission is to transform the perception of plant-based drinks by delivering the authentic flavors and textures associated with dairy,” Fritsche said.
