CHICAGO — Kraft Heinz Co. and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream have joined forces to fuse two comfort foods into one unlikely combination: macaroni and cheese flavored ice cream.
Limited-edition Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Ice Cream features a base of Van Leeuwen’s French ice cream — made with cream, milk, cane sugar and egg yolks — churned with Kraft’s cheese powder and turmeric to mimic the classic macaroni and cheese color. The treat is packaged in a blue pint that evokes the familiar features of a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese box.
“We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream,” said Emily Violett, senior associate brand manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. “That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with. As big fans of Van Leeuwen, we knew they’d be the perfect partner to create this ice cream with us. Not only does it taste delicious, but it’s also made with high-quality ingredients and contains no artificial flavors, preservatives, or dyes, just like our Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.”
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Ice Cream will be sold at Van Leeuwen scoop shops and on Van Leeuwen’s website for $12 per pint while supplies last.
