HERNDON, VA. – Sustainable solutions will be easy to spot at Pack Expo Las Vegas – not only because of the emphasis organizers of the event are placing on the environmental factors that go into manufacturing, but also due to the presence of special green icons designed to direct the thousands of attendees to exhibits and sessions focused on sustainability.
PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, which produces the show, said partners, vendors and exhibitors worked together to provide this year’s program (Sept. 11-13, Las Vegas Convention Center) with actionable sustainable solutions in manufacturing, materials and design.
Exhibits are set to feature technology, strategies, processes and machines geared toward sustainability, as well as packaging solutions and other innovations that reduce a company’s carbon footprint.
Materials science company Dow, official sustainability partner for Pack Expo Las Vegas, is set to participate in several of the show’s sustainability features and is sponsoring all the recycling on the show floor.
“Our attendees will have a chance to interact like never before with leading companies and thought leaders on a topic that affects us all and enables us to protect our environment through increased recycling efforts,” said Jim Pittas, president and chief executive officer at PMMI. “Anyone committed to learning more about sustainable solutions in our industry will want to be at Pack Expo Las Vegas.”
Said Victor Zapata, Dow’s commercial vice president, packaging and specialty plastics, North America: “As Dow continues to collaborate on innovative solutions and investment opportunities to achieve our goal of transforming the waste, we’re proud to be the first ever official sustainability partner for Pack Expo. Sustainability is no longer a ‘nice-to-have,’ but a necessary part of any company’s business strategy and growth. Yet, no one company can do it alone. Enabling a circular economy requires all of us working together to advance collective solutions.”
Pack Expo organizers this year are debuting “Sustainability Central,” where attendees can find a wide-ranging examination of packaging sustainability and what it means to companies. The area will feature expert speakers and interactive content, as well as actionable, sustainable innovations in manufacturing, materials and design.
At the “Sustainability Stage,” industry experts will cover a number of packaging sustainability topics, offering insights on how brands can further avoid depleting natural resources.
One of the show’s pavilions will focus on reusable packaging, with exhibitors who specialize in reusable transport packaging. Plus, a learning center devoted to reusable packaging will offer presentations and panel discussions that are designed to help attendees discover best practices for bringing reusables into their respective supply chains.
What’s more, Pack Expo Las Vegas exhibitors can access a post-show donation program that will deliver donated food, electronics and booth materials to Las Vegas organizations.
