WATERLOO, WIS. – Fresh dairy maker Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese LLC left the 2023 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest with two first-place awards among its five latest accolades.
Crave Brothers’ Chocolate Mascarpone received first place in the flavored soft cheese class, while its Oaxaca earned the top honor in the Latin American cheese class.
Meanwhile, the company took second place with its Fresh Mozzarella Ciliegine (mozzarella class) and Mascarpone (soft and spreadable cheese open class). Its Fresh Mozzarella Medallions picked up third place in the mozzarella class.
"We're proud to have such strong recognition from the state we call home," said George Crave, founder of Crave Brothers. "It's an honor to be recognized in a competitive field of farm-to-table experts like those in Wisconsin."
Per the cheese maker, its Chocolate Mascarpone was formulated to add to everyday recipes such as desserts, charcuterie boards and fruit trays. The product received the top overall honor at the 2022 state fair competition. The company shared that its Oaxaca can be used in nachos, quesadillas and the like.
The annual Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest, hosted by the fair and its Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board, includes 40-plus classes and special awards to honor the state’s dairy producers.
