NEW BERLIN, NY β Yogurt maker Chobani added a new product to its zero sugar portfolio, introducing Chobani Zero Sugar Drinks.
The new platform makes its debut in four flavors: Mixed Berry, Peaches & Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake and Milk & Cookies.
The company shared that it recently invested capital into its capacity and expanded the production of zero sugar products, which launched in 2019 with Greek yogurt cups, at its Twin Falls, Idaho, plant to meet demand.
Citing data from Mintel, Chobani noted that yogurt drinks are expected to own 21% of yogurt category sales over the next five years.
"After a few years of being hyper-focused on optimizing our core portfolio and improving excellence in our supply chain and service levels, we are extremely excited to once again dazzle the shelves with the launch our new zero sugar drinks," said Niel Sandfort, chief innovation officer at Chobani. "This latest innovation takes an already successful product line, made with natural ingredients, to the next level by evolving it into a drinkable format, perfect for the on-the-go consumer."
Chobani called its new drinks βan excellent source of protein and billions of probiotics.β The company said the process for making its Zero Sugar Drinks involves natural fermentation, during which yogurt cultures and probiotics eat the sugars found in milk.
The drinks are sweetened using only natural sugar alternatives, so the product contains 0 grams of total sugar. The drinks also are lactose-free, contain no preservatives and include 50 calories per 7 oz serving. Chobani noted all of its yogurt products are made with non-GMO ingredients.
