BOULDER, COLO. – The a2 Milk Company announced its portfolio now includes grass-fed products, with the launch of grass-fed options in both whole milk and 2% reduced fat milk.
The company shared that its a2 Milk Grassfed Whole Milk and a2 Milk Grassfed 2% Reduced Fat Milk are certified regenerative by A Greener World, Non-GMO Project verified and Validus certified for animal welfare.
“As consumer interest in the a2 Milk brand continues to grow, adding a grass-fed version is a natural progression that meets rising demand in this premium segment,” said Blake Waltrip, chief executive officer of The a2 Milk Company USA. “Combining the digestive benefits that some people experience with a2 Milk with the growing popularity of grass-fed milk provides a compelling new dairy option for health-conscious consumers that will also help us continue to build our brand.”
The a2 Milk Company cited research from SPINS that showed the grass-fed segment grew nearly 25.8% in the natural channel over the 12 weeks ending Jan. 29, while a2 Milk was the fastest growing brand among the top 10 premium milk brands for the previous year.
The company’s products are made with milk from cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein – most dairy products contain both A1 and A2 proteins.
The new grass-fed milks from a2 are available at major natural food retailers, such as Whole Foods Market and Sprouts, and can be purchased online, as well.
Dr. Corran McLachlan founded The a2 Milk Company in New Zealand in 2000 after research found that proteins in milk may affect some people differently. The company entered the US market in 2015.
