EAGLE, IDAHO – The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) teamed up with ice cream maker Van Leeuwen to deliver the classic diner combination of French fries and milkshakes directly to the freezer aisle.
The limited-edition flavor, Malted Milkshake & Fries, launched at Van Leeuwen scoop shops and on the company’s website in late February. The new product features Idaho potato flakes and a caramel flavored French ice cream to recreate the taste of a fry dipped in a milkshake.
"Idaho potatoes have earned their place at breakfast, lunch and dinner; now we've got dessert covered, too,” said IPC president and chief executive officer Jamey Higham.
Brooklyn, NY-based Van Leeuwen is selling pints of the special flavor for $12 each on its website while supplies last.
