NEW BERLIN, NY – Greek yogurt manufacturer Chobani promoted Nishant Roy to the role of chief communications and impact officer.
The former chief of strategic operations for the company, Roy will now oversee Chobani’s corporate communications, government relations, sustainability, community impact and philanthropy.
As a member of the company’s executive leadership team, Roy reports to president and chief operating officer Kevin Burns.
Chobani founder and chief executive officer Hamdi Ulukaya said the CCIO will champion the company’s mission.
“I have known and worked closely with Nishant for many years and respect him enormously,” Ulukaya said. “He is driven, dedicated and cares deeply about the impact Chobani has had, and will continue to have, on the world. His experience across both business and service is exactly what we need in a leader to take Chobani’s impact to even greater heights.”
Burns said Roy possesses “experience turning passion into advocacy and action,” making him “ideal” for his new position.
Previously during his time at Chobani, Roy also worked as Ulukaya’s chief of staff. Before he joined the New York-based company, Roy worked at the US Agency for International Development, where his job entailed structuring partnerships to help lift people out of poverty. Earlier in his career, he also spent time working for Goldman Sachs.
His experience also includes serving as an airman in the US Air Force. Roy is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, working group lead at the Partnership for Central America, and serves as treasurer of the Tent Foundation. He earned a master’s degree at the New York University Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics from St. John’s University.
