GREEN BAY, WIS. – BelGioioso Cheese announced it worked with the Orthodox Union to receive Kosher certification for the cheeses produced at two of its facilities.
The company’s plants in Appleton, Wis., and Denmark, Wis., worked with OU through a verification process that assured Kosher requirements were met with each facility’s production areas, ingredients, tools and equipment.
Previously, BelGioioso received certification for two of its New York-based facilities, where it produces cheeses under its own label, as well as the Polly-O brand.
As of now, the company sells Kosher certified fresh mozzarella, burrata and ricotta, as well as some snacking cheeses, such as Polly-O string cheese.
“We are happy to extend our quality offering to a new consumer segment,” said Gaetano Auricchio, executive vice president of BelGioioso Cheese. “While the certification assures consumers that the Kosher requirements are met, BelGioioso’s high production and quality standards are consistent across manufacturing facilities and all cheese varieties.”
The company shared that it will soon feature the OU Kosher symbol on the packaging of its certified products.
