TILLAMOOK, ORE. – Tillamook County Creamery Association announced its third annual All For Farmers initiative will utilize a virtual auction to raise funds for nonprofit American Farmland Trust.
The money Tillamook raises will benefit AFT’s Brighter Future Fund grant program and go toward preserving farmland, assisting farmers in financial need and supporting the future of farming.
The dairy cooperative’s online eBay auction will be open for bidding for a full week, beginning at 7 p.m. EDT on Oct. 12 and ending at the same time on Oct. 19. The auction’s items and experiences include a Tillamook-branded 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 Double Cab, an overnight stay at the Tillamook Creamery, a mini-fridge stocked with Tillamook cheeses, a 40-pound block of aged cheddar (2012) and a year’s worth of groceries courtesy of Giant Food.
"As a farmer-owned co-op and a Certified B Corporation, TCCA is dedicated to being a force for good in the world," said Jocelyn Bridson, Tillamook’s director of environment and community impact. "Doing right by the cows and farms, people and products, and for the community and the environment is not just about staying true to our core values, it's about supporting farms and underrepresented farmers across the country to do the same, for generations to come."
So far, the cooperative’s All For Farmers initiative has generated funds to permanently protect more than 10,000 acres of US farmland. And since AFT established the Brighter Future Fund in 2020, Tillamook has partnered with the nonprofit to raise $3.2 million for AFT’s farmer-supporting work, both through fundraising and corporate giving.
Per AFT, the grant program has helped 330 farmers in the US and Puerto Rico, and has benefited many farmers of color, LGBTQ+ farmers and female farmers – groups that are under-served in agriculture.
